CAM – complementary and alternative medicine is a term used for products and practices that are not part of standard medicine.
In the U.S. more than 38% of adults use some form of “complementary” and/or “alternative” treatments in 2007. Can you imagine how much this percentage went up in the past ten years?

- Complementary medicine – is used the along with mainstream medicine but they are not considered to be standard treatments.
- Alternative medicine – is used instead of standard medical treatments.
- Integrated medicine – is a combination of mainstream medicine with complementary and alternative medicine practices that have proven to be safe and effective. Integrated medicine is known for treating the mind body and soul.

Acupressure – similar in principles to acupuncture. The basis is energy, “life energy” flows through “meridians” in the body. Pressure is applied to an acupuncture point to release blockages within the meridians. During treatment, pressure can be applied with a finger, elbow or various different tools that do not puncture the skin.
Acupuncture – uses needles to release blockages within the meridians. There are arrays of acupuncture theories based on different philosophies and country.
Applied Kinesiology – often used in a chiropractic or holistic physician settings to diagnose illness and/or test muscles for strength and weakness.
Aromatherapy – utilizes blends of therapeutic essential oils (aromatic plant extracts) that can be used in massage, inhalation, water and topical to balance, harmonize and promote a healthy mind and body.
Chiropractic – used to treat misalignment of joints which causes other systems of the body to be in disharmony like the nervous system, muscles and organs.
Craniosacral therapy – bodywork – using gentle touch to manipulate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium to release tension deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction to restore whole-body health and performance.
Crystal Therapy – gem stones, crystals and other stones are used to bring balance and harmony to the mind and body. Crystals and stones are a conduit to healing, allowing positive energy to flow through the body to release the negative energy which causes dis-ease.
Deep Breathing – is done by contracting the diaphragm, a muscle located horizontally between the thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. Air enters the lungs and the chest rises and the belly expands during this type of breathing. Anti-Anxiety Plus
Ear Candling – used to sooth the car canal and relieve pain and itching infection and other conditions. Candling helps soften old hardened wax and assists to excrete excess ear wax. Be sure to use a trained professional, if done incorrectly the wax from the candle and drip into the ear canal.
Gua Sha – used with Acupuncture and/or Cupping/MediCupping. A Gua Sha treatment use a Jade or Onyx stone or even a spoon to scrap the skin to produce what looks like bruising to stimulate blood flow and the release of toxins to promote healing.
Herbal Therapy – is based on the use of plants, herbs and extracts to promote harmony and balance to the whole body, often used by Acupuncturist and
Homeopathy – embraces each person as a whole individual rather than focusing on the sickness or disease. It is extremely safe since they are made from all natural substances like plant and minerals.
Hydrotherapy – uses water to provide therapeutic effects for relieving pain and increase range of motion.
Hypnosis – induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.
Light Therapy – consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light. This is commonly used for seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and skin disorders.
Massage Therapy – bodywork – encompasses 100s if not 1000s of different types of treatment manipulating soft body tissue, muscle connective tissue, tendons and ligaments to enhance a person’s health and well-being.
MediCupping – also known as Medical Massage Cupping and Vacuum Therapy to promote mobilization and movement to stagnate areas of the body. MediCupping effect the nerve, lymphatic and circulatory pathways to restore homeostasis.
Meditation – a practice to train the mind to go into a deep state of consciousness, when the mind is free of thoughts and things.

There are thousands of complementary, alternative and integrative therapies available. It is always best for you to decide with one is best for you.
